Playstation announced that Spider-Man would be swinging in as a free downloadable character in 2021 for the Marvel Avengers game but would be EXCLUSIVE to Playstation, meaning Xbox and PC owners would not be able to play as Spider-man. Playstation fans rejoiced but Xbox/PC fans were very disappointed calling it anti-consumer to keep a whole character exclusive to one console especially since it's a third party/multi-plat game. I can understand why that would make fans angry. They're going to be paying the same price for the game as Playstation owners & getting one less character which does seem unfair. It doesn't surprise me though. Sony has been using Spider-man to their advantage since 2018 when Spider-Man PS4 released, pretty much forcing all Spider-man fans to buy a PS4 if they wanted to experience a new Spider-man game/story. They're doing it again with PS5 with the Miles Morales Spin off and again with Marvels Avengers. Playstation may seem anti-consumer doing that but in reality it's fan service & they're just giving their supporters a reason to own a PS4/PS5. Maybe Crystal Dynamics can lower the price of the Xbox/PC versions by $10 to make those users feel like they aren't losing money & missing out. Other than that, I don't know what they can do to make getting the game on Xbox/PC worth it when they won't be able to play as one of Marvels best heroes. |

Playstation announced that the Dualshock 4 would not work with PS5 games because PS5 games are being developed specifically for the PS5 & will use all of the new controllers enhancements that wouldn't be possible with the Dualshock 4. After that Xbox decided to announce & that all Xbox One controllers would work on the Xbox Series X to throw a little shade at Playstation I assume. After the announcements, people were complaining Sony is being anti-consumer by not allowing PS4 controllers to work on PS5 but forget that PS3 controllers didn't work on the PS4 either. It seems Playstation is truly embracing next gen while Xbox is fine staying inbetween both current & next gen & focusing more on Gamepass than the Series X, which is fine. Xbox users get first party games day one on gamepass, can play through Xcloud and get to use their Xone controllers. It doesn't get more pro-consumer than that. I'm just really worried a lot of their next gen first party games are going to suffer because of Gamepass. Xbox seems to be more about quantity than quality and that's not what fans want from next gen. |

Xbox had a games showcase today, showing off what a lot of their first party studios have been working on and what Xbox fans can expect going into next gen. It started off with their flagship franchise, Halo Infinite then went on to show off many other titles such as State of Decay 3, Avowed, Grounded, Forza, The Medium, STALKER 2, Psychonauts 2, Fable & more. All of which was confirmed to be on Gamepass day one. So if you are hyped for any of the games shown, then on release day you can pay as low as $10 for the gamepass & play it. No worries of coming up with $60 or waiting for a sale. Seems like the showcase was basically done as a big advertisement for gamepass. Xbox basically wants to be the Netflix of gaming & they're on track to accomplishing that. You can watch the full showcase by clicking the image to the left. |

Ubisoft released a 2 hour long presentation called 'Ubisoft Forward' today where they went into detail on some of their upcoming releases like Watch Dogs: Legion[releasing on October 29, 2020] and Assassins Creed: Valhalla[releasing on November 17,2020] and also showed a teaser trailer for Far Cry 6[releasing February 28, 2021] that revolved around the villain [portrayed by the amazing Giancarlo Esposito] and his son. Every game shown off in the presentation looked great and were all unique. Watch Dogs: Legion looks to be a bit overly ambitious but the ability to play as anyone in the world with their own personalities, skills, weapons etc. has me excited & I really hope it's as good as it looks. AC: Valhalla is more like Origins and Odyssey than the older Assassins Creed games which kind of disappointed me at first but after watching the gameplay and finding out more info, I think there is a chance it could win me over unlike it's predecessors. Sadly, there was no gameplay of Far Cry 6, only a trailer but that's all I needed to get on the hype train. They also showed off other games such as Brawlhalla and Hyper Scape & for more info about those, click the image to the left to watch the full Ubisoft Forward presentation. |
